Main Dish Recipes
There are so many delicious main dish recipes out there for the raw food diet that it's kind of hard to narrow it down. But then, I don't really have to narrow it down, do I? This is my site, so I can put as many recipes as I want on it! I've started out by listing some of the most common things that people miss like burgers and hot dogs. Definitely take advantage of all the toppings and "condiments" with these recipes! Onions, pickles, lettuce, tomatoes, guacamole, and ketchup can all be added to these recipes to dress them up and make them taste GREAT! I'll be adding to the list of main dish recipes as I come across them. If there is any dish that you would like to find a recipe for, contact me and I'll do my best to find a recipe that tastes authentic and yummy!
Veggie Nut Burgers These burgers taste good on their own or between two garlic flax crackers with some ketchup. To get the most nutrition out of the dish, the raw sunflower seeds should be soaked and dehydrated before hand. This makes them easier to digest. Some recipes, like this one, require dry nuts or seeds. It's nice to have a supply already on hand of soaked and dried nuts or seeds. If you know beforehand that a recipe requires it, you can do it right when you purchase them or a couple days before you make the recipe. Because I like sunflower seeds on my salads, I generally soak and dry/dehydrate them as soon as I buy them. I then store them in a glass jar in my freezer. Ingredients: - 2 stalks celery, chopped
- 1/4 cup onion, chopped
- 1/2 red bell pepper, chopped
- 1 Tbsp celtic sea salt
- 2 Tbsp oregano
- 1 cup sunflower seeds, ground
- 1 cup flax seeds, ground
- 1/2 cup purified water
Directions: - Mix all ingredients together.
- Form into 4 patties.
- Dehydrate at 105 degrees F for 3 hours.
Jalapeno BurgersThis burger recipe was taken from the site The Daily Raw Cafe. I have yet to try it, but I'm a big fan of jalapenos, so I want to soon. Ingredients:- 1 jalapeno pepper, finely chopped
- 1/2 onion, finely chopped
- 1 cup walnuts, soaked for 4 hours
- 1/4 cup sun-dried tomatoes, soaked until very soft, reserve 1/8 cup soaking water
- 1 Tbsp Nama Shoyu
- 1 tsp Hamburger Seasoning
- 1 tsp sea salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
Directions: - In a food processor, combine walnuts, sun-dried tomatoes and soaking water until you achieve a meat consistency. Remove from processor.
- In a mixing bowl, lightly mix together walnut meat, onions, jalapeno peppers, Nama Shoyu, salt and pepper.
- Shape into 6 patties.
- Dehydrate at 115 degrees for 1 hour (optional).
RAW Hot DogsI got this hot dog recipe from The Raw Freedom Community. It had some really good reviews so I thought I'd add it to my main dish recipes page. Well, I ended up making it and... I Wasn't Disappointed! Well, not so far anyway! They're in the dehydrator right now, but the pate tastes DELICIOUS! I can't wait until they're done! I think tomorrow I'll make a batch of RAW Ketchup to go with it! Ingredients: - 1 1/2 cups walnuts
- 1/4 onion, chopped
- 1/4 beet
- 1/2 carrot
- 2 cloves garlic
