Yummy Salad Dressing Recipes
Finding a selection of good salad dressing recipes is VERY important! In my opinion, it's the dressing that makes the salad! FORTUNATELY they are simple to make and taste great! The dressing's "shelf life" isn't long, but they are RAW, fresh, and made to order so you should have no problem consuming them in a short period of time! Eating a salad a day is nothing on this diet!
The salad dressing recipes I've made have lasted at least 3 to 4 days in the fridge.I've also made double batches which have lasted all week! Their flavor remained great the whole time! Most of the salad dressing recipes can also double as a dip for veggies or as a sauce for wraps.... They're good on almost anything! I use equal parts of olive oil and flaxseed oil in a lot of my salad dressing recipes. I've found that with some recipes, if I use ALL olive oil, the dressing solidifies a little in the refrigerator.
Green Onion DressingThis is my favorite raw salad dressing recipe! I eat it on all of my salads and use it as a dip for my veggies. Yummy! If you don't have any flaxseed oil, you can use 1 cup of olive oil in this salad dressing. The sweet and tangy flavor remains the same! The flaxseed oil is rich in omega-3 and omega-6 EFA's, essential fatty acids. Something I found out by accident was that the type of honey you use is VERY important! I started out using the brand "Really Raw Honey" which is smooth and creamy, not sticky and gooey like typical honey. But when I ran out, I bought a different brand. The new brand said "raw" and "unheated" on the jar but it was sticky and gooey like typical honey. It didn't work AT ALL in this salad dressing recipe. All you could taste was the oil AND it separated within a couple of hours. I ended up dumping it. So... make sure you use a creamy, spreadable honey!Ingredients:
- 3 green onions
- 1/2 cup olive oil
- 1/2 cup flaxseed oil
- 1/3 cup raw apple cider vinegar
- 1/3 cup raw honey
- 1 1/2 tsp sea salt
Directions:- Place all ingredients in blender and mix until creamy.
Honey Mustard DressingThis honey mustard is REALLY good! I've tried a few other recipes, but this one is by far the best. It's great on both a salad and as a sauce on veggie or nut burgers. Ingredients:
- 1/4 cup raw apple cider vinegar
- 1/4 cup raw honey
- 1/4 cup flaxseed oil
- 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
- 1 Tbsp Dijon mustard
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 2 tsp dry mustard
- 1/2 tsp sea salt
- 1/8 tsp black pepper
Directions:- Place all ingredients in blender and mix until creamy.
Variations:In my first recipe I used lemon juice instead of apple cider vinegar. It tasted OK, but I like the taste of the apple cider vinegar better. You might like it the other way, so feel free to experiment! If you don't have any raw honey on hand, you can use agave nectar. You'll just have to rename the recipe 'Agave Mustard Dressing'!
Tangy Herb DressingThis salad dressing is kind of thick. It has a lot of flavor though, so a little definitely goes a long way! If you prefer a thinner consistency, just add more water. I'm going to play around with this one a bit yet. I might try adding some flaxseed oil. If you've found a variation that tastes great, send it to me and I'll add it to the site! Ingredients:
- 1 cup raw macadamia nuts, soaked for 2 hours or more
- 1/3 cup extra virgin olive oil
- 1/2 cup lemon juice
- 1 packet Stevia
- 1 Tbsp sea salt
- 1 Tbsp chives
- 1 Tbsp oregano
- 1 Tbsp rosemary
- 1 Tbsp savory
- 3 Tbsp purified water
Directions:- Place all ingredients in blender and mix until smooth.
Spinach DipI got this delicious recipe from the website Gone Raw. I tried the dip with some celery and loved it! I knew right away that I had to include it in my salad dressing recipes. Although more of a dip, it could easily be thinned out with some water to create a chunky dressing. When I made this, I didn't have psyllium husk so I used 1 tsp of chia seeds instead. The dip tasted great and had a nice thick consistency. Ingredients: - 10 oz fresh spinach
- 1/2 red onion
- 1 1/2 cup raw almonds, soaked and dehydrated
- 1/2 cup cashews, soaked and dehydrated
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 1 1/2 cups purified water
- 1/3 cup lemon juice
- 2 Tbsp nutritional flakes
- 4 cloves garlic
- 2 tsp sea salt
- Optional: 1 tsp psyllium husk (to increase thickness)
Directions:- Chop spinach and onion and place in medium bowl.
- Put remaining ingredients in blender and blend until smooth.
- Combine ingredients and chill for 1 to 2 hours.
Smoky Cheese DipThis dip tastes great on almost any kind of chip or cracker. It has a real smoky taste. It almost tastes like it has bacon in it. It would probably taste really good on a nut burger! You'd feel like you were eating a bacon cheese burger! Ingredients: - 1 cup raw cashews, soaked for 2 hours or more
- 1/2 large red bell pepper
- 1/4 cup purified water
- 2 Tbsp lemon juice
- 2 Tbsp nutritional yeast
- 1 Tbsp tahini
- 1 1/2 tsp sea salt
- 1 clove garlic
- 2 tsp onion powder
Directions:- Blend all ingredients until creamy.
Easy Guacamole DipThis is one of my staple recipes. It's easy to make and delicious. Add tomatoes, garlic, red pepper or whatever to this recipe to change the flavor around a bit. It tastes great any way you make it! Make an Avocado Salad by adding a rib of celery to this recipe. Spread it into a big romaine or kale leaf with a dash of salt and pepper and eat it like a taco.
Ingredients:- 2 large avocados, diced or mashed
- 1 green onion, chopped
- 1 lemon, juiced
- 2 tsp cumin
Directions:- Mix all ingredients together in a small bowl. Enjoy!
Simple SalsaThis salsa can be enjoyed with some hot-n-spicy tortilla chips or as a topping to your "tacos". You can also get creative and add some of your other favorite ingredients! Try a dash of lime juice, a clove of garlic, or maybe some fresh corn from the cob!
Ingredients:- 5 Roma tomatoes, chopped
- 1 large handful cilantro, chopped
- 1 green onion, chopped
- 1 jalapeno, minced
- 1/4 tsp sea salt
Directions:- Stir together all ingredients in a medium bowl.
KetchupKetchup is something I have to have with my burgers! It just doesn't taste the same without it... I found a couple of ketchup recipes online and in some "un"cookbooks. I then tweaked them to satisfy MY tastes! lol! I think I did a pretty good job. Try it and let me know what you think!
Ingredients:- 1 large tomato, chopped
- 1/2 cup sun-dried tomatoes, soaked for 30 minutes
- 1 Tbsp garlic, minced
- 3 dates, pitted
- 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
- 1 Tbsp Nama Shoyu (can substitute 1 tsp of sea salt)
- 1 Tbsp apple cider vinegar
Directions:- Blend all ingredients together.
